Everything is God’s
God owns it all. Everything belongs to Him, and out of His goodness, He provides everything we need.
- Psalm 24:1 – “The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it.”
- James 1:17 – “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights.”
- Matthew 6:31-33 – “So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”
Giving is Returning
“Giving” really is giving back. We return a portion of what God has entrusted to us. It’s an act of obedience, honoring God’s command to give to and through His church.
- 1 Chronicles 29:14 – “But who am I, and who are my people, that we should be able to give as generously as this? Everything comes from you, and we have given you only what comes from your hand.”
- Deuteronomy 8:17-18 – “You may say to yourself, ‘My power and the strength of my hands have produced this wealth for me.’ But remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth.”
- Acts 2:44-45 – “All the believers were together and had everything in common. They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need.”
Giving is Worship
Giving isn’t just generosity—it’s worship. It’s our tangible response of gratitude and trust, declaring that God is our provider, not our possessions.
- Proverbs 3:9-10 – “Honor the Lord with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops; then your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your vats will brim over with new wine.”
- 1 Timothy 6:17-19 – “Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth… but to put their hope in God… and to be generous and willing to share.”
- Malachi 3:10 – “Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it.”
Take Your Next Step
The tithe (10%) is just the starting point, not the finish line. If 10% feels out of reach, start somewhere. Don’t wait to begin trusting God.
- Deuteronomy 16:17 – “Each of you must bring a gift in proportion to the way the Lord your God has blessed you.”
- 2 Corinthians 8:7 – “But since you excel in everything—in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in complete earnestness and in the love we have kindled in you—see that you also excel in this grace of giving.”
- 2 Corinthians 9:6-7 – “Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.”
