First offers many activities designed specially for those who would consider themselves vintage. Here are just a few that are happening right now:
Midwest Seniors Conference
The Midwest Seniors Conference has organized a wonderful day of music, workshops, and keynote speaker, Bob Russell. Pastor Russel recently retired as the Senior Minister of the largest Christian Church in the country—Southeast Christian Church of Louisville, Kentucky with over 20,000 in attendance each weekend. The conference is Tuesday, September 21 in Catlin, Illinois (80 miles east of Decatur). The cost for the conference is only $15 and we’ll take care of the transportation with Coach Charter Bus. To register, contact Pastor Brian at 875-3350 or btalty@firstdecatur.org.
Friendly Bible Class
[Sundays at 9:30a | Room 105]
Looking for a traditional Sunday School class for seniors? Then this class is perfect for you! Taught by Sonja Songer, we have great lessons straight from the Word. On occation, we meet on a Friday morning Cracker Barrel for breakfast and fellowship.
Upward Bound
[3rd Friday of the month at 11:30a-12:45p | Activity Center]
This is a monthly gathering of seniors that typically features and inspirational message, special music, a presentation of a topic of interest for seniors, and a delicious lunch. Reservations not required!
Home Connections
This ministry's main purpose is to express love and concern for those who are no longer able to attend church. It's fun and easy because you get to meet a friend while caring for them at the same time! We're always looking for new faces to help make this vital ministry happen. Visitors and card senders needed.
